Singer song writer Jess Ward hired the hall recently to launch her new album
from The Western Telegraph ;
SINGER songwriter and harpist Jess Ward will be celebrating the launch of her new album with a concert and dance on Saturday.
Hailing from the Pembroke area, she has spent many years teaching piano and performing with her guitar before discovering her dream instrument, the Celtic lever harp.
This new love, together with a passion for dancing has inspired her to write her debut album of songs in the neo – folk style, under the title The Mermaid’s Lament.
Here you will find dancing and devils, mermaids and enchantments and songs of love and longing.
Tracks from the album were played on both Frank Hennessey’s Celtic Heartbeat show on BBC Radio Wales and BB Skone’s music show on Radio Pembrokeshire, where she was the live session guest, on Sunday evening.
Jess will be launching the album with a concert at Pembroke Town Hall on Saturday, September 27, followed by a dance with the Gower All Stars.
The Gower All Stars, feature three top names from the Welsh folk music circuit in Martin Leamon, Sille Ilves and Ceri Rhys Matthews, and perform regularly up and down the country, playing traditional Welsh music on hurdy gurdy, fiddle, bagpipes and more.
