Over the last month the division has arrested 11 people for driving whilst above the legal alcohol limit, worryingly three of these were over or nearly over three times the legal limit.
These were:
• A 45 year-old man who was arrested at 8.30pm on a Friday evening
• A 45-year-old man who was arrested at 7.15pm on a Sunday
• A 21-year-old man who was involved in a collision at 5:10am on a Sunday. The man collided with two parked cars and injured his passenger.
Inspector Gareth Thomas said: “The majority of other people arrested were about twice over the legal limit.
“There is no doubt that these people knew that they had had too much to drink but they chose to disrespect the law and other people by driving.
“It is extremely disappointing that despite constant appeals people are still putting others at risk while driving while they are over the legal limit.
“I would urge anyone who suspects someone of drink driving to contact us – you could save someone’s life by doing so.”
