Pembrokeshire Police are appealing for people to plan their travel while the Pembrokeshire County Show is on at the Withybush Showground, Haverfordwest. The large numbers of visitors who attend the show normally results in considerable traffic congestion. Police are appealing for visitors, to the show and local residents to work together and help avoid major traffic issues. Sergeant Gary Jones said: "The peak times for traffic on the A40 are from 8am to 10am and from 4pm to 6pm, so we would ask everyone to avoid any unnecessary journeys and travelling during these times. "We would also ask people who are not travelling to the show to try and find alternative routes which avoid the A40. "We often get people complaining that they are late for work by being held up in the traffic. "We have designed the traffic system to minimise any possible delays, but these are inevitable when an extra 7,000 cars are converging at the same point within a very short period of time. "We would encourage people to help themselves by either giving themselves extra travelling time, consider the use of public transport or if possible, adjusting their working hours to miss the peak times for the three days that the show is on. "The county show is a family event which is welcomed in Pembrokeshire and hopefully by working together we can reduce the traffic congestion problems." This year, the county show is being held between Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st August.
